First Altenew Academy Assignment

My classes finally downloaded and I took my first lesson. I was so excited to get started that as soon as I completed the lesson I dove right into doing the assignment.

I used some elements from the Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp set and stamped them randomly on white card stock using colors from  the Red Cosmos and Green Fields cube dye ink sets. Backed with red card stock and adhered to white A2 size card.

I used gold Wink of Stella to enhance the open leaf stamps

I stamped the sentiment on white card stock with Ruby Red Crisp Ink
from Red Cosmos Cube Ink Set and backed with red card stock.

This was a very different style for me

and I enjoyed the process and

am so pleased with the results.

I hope you like it also.

Please let me know what you think in the comments!

ALTENEW EDUCATOR ENROLLEE!!!

This is the most exciting thing that has happened to me since the beginning of COVID. I was recently accepted into the upcoming Altenew Educator Training Program!!! It starts later this month and I am soooo excited to begin.

Besides my love of learning and hopes of successfully graduating, this will have me posting more regularly as we are expected to post our classwork.

So here's a big thanks

Yesterday my young neighbor came over for a visit. I took her to my craft room for a look-see and she was so excited to see all of the craft supplies. She picked up one of my blending brushes and asked what it was for. I immediately set about getting her some inks to try out the brush. She made a beautiful background and we decided to turn it into a birthday card for her grandma. In addition to the background we used a paper flower that I had sitting on the work table and a Happy Birthday sentiment I had made for practice. On the inside I had her emboss the sentiment so that she could learn about powder embossing. She and I were so pleased with the result.

CARDS FOR FOSTER CHILDREN

The Bearly Art company sponsors a Cards For Kids event asking crafters to donate handmade cards to be distributed to Foster Children. I signed up to donate forty cards. I made 20 cards for boys and 20 for girls. I tried to make a mix appropriate for all ages. While the majority of the cards are birthday cards I tried to make some that were congratulatory or supportive.

I used the Cricut Joy to make all of the boys cards but made all except one of the girls cards by hand. This is my second time making cards for foster children and am so appreciative of having the ability to to participate.

Using up Bits And Pieces

While playing around with card making I end up with lots of useful bits and pieces that I promise myself I will, SOMEDAY, make into cards. Well, today I kept that promise

I made two complete cards and cut card fronts from five embossed papers. I wasn’t able to turn the embossed pieces into cards because I don’t have the correct size card bases.

SLIMLINE CARDS

Slimline cards are the "IN" card style right now so I have made some and find that I really like them. And they fit in ordinary envelopes so no more searching for the right size among my envelope stash!

Cards For My Card Group During Pandemic

I have so missed meeting face to face with my card group that I decided to make them a set of cards they can put together on their own. I used dies from Heartfelt Creations. I love these dies so much that I couldn’t keep them to myself. I hope the group likes them as much as I do.
