CARDS FOR FOSTER CHILDREN

The Bearly Art company sponsors a Cards For Kids event asking crafters to donate handmade cards to be distributed to Foster Children. I signed up to donate forty cards. I made 20 cards for boys and 20 for girls. I tried to make a mix appropriate for all ages. While the majority of the cards are birthday cards I tried to make some that were congratulatory or supportive.

I used the Cricut Joy to make all of the boys cards but made all except one of the girls cards by hand. This is my second time making cards for foster children and am so appreciative of having the ability to to participate.

Using up Bits And Pieces

While playing around with card making I end up with lots of useful bits and pieces that I promise myself I will, SOMEDAY, make into cards. Well, today I kept that promise

I made two complete cards and cut card fronts from five embossed papers. I wasn’t able to turn the embossed pieces into cards because I don’t have the correct size card bases.

SLIMLINE CARDS

Slimline cards are the "IN" card style right now so I have made some and find that I really like them. And they fit in ordinary envelopes so no more searching for the right size among my envelope stash!

Cards For My Card Group During Pandemic

I have so missed meeting face to face with my card group that I decided to make them a set of cards they can put together on their own. I used dies from Heartfelt Creations. I love these dies so much that I couldn’t keep them to myself. I hope the group likes them as much as I do.

More Covid and Crafting Update

I am still living between my sister's house and mine but have accumulated sufficient supplies at my sister's house to continue card making, water coloring, and alcohol ink coloring. I just need a few more supplies to be fully operative.

In the meantime the most significant Covid after-effect is my ability to wake from a nap that I wasn't aware I was taking.

Well, maybe that isn't the most significant after-effect. I lost weight during my Covid battle and am determined to keep that weight off. In addition my risk of diabetes is significant now so I started a low carb diet and am continuing to lose weight. I am using an APP to track my eating and exercise (walking) called Carb Manager. I'm really liking it. It is easy to use and already lists many of the foods I eat.

In order to keep this post craft related I'll show you my latest Kit and Clowder project which I turned into a Christmas Card !

COVID AND CRAFTING UPDATE

Two days after my last post my brother-in-law passed away due to complications of COVID 19. Within a week my sister was also diagnosed with COVID 19. Then it was my turn. Fortunately we have both recovered. I continue to stay with my sister to help her with housekeeping and shopping, only going home at night to sleep. Since all of my craft supplies are at my house it has been difficult to do much crafting. I am, slowly, bringing essential supplies to my sister's house. I hope to be able to show you some cards I have been working on for my card class, which I hope will soon be able to resume meeting.

I hope you have been staying safe and well.

SO MANY CRAFTS, SO LITTLE TIME

In addition to my passion for all things CRICUT I follow Kit and Clowder for alcohol ink coloring, Art Impressions for watercoloring, and have recently developed an obsession with HEARTFELT CREATIONS.

I came accross Heartfelt Creations a few years ago and practiced their techniques without actually using their products. Then I took a class from them at a local craft show and bought a few products, but mostly continued with just what I already owned. But now I am a full blown addict. I am grateful for this quarentine situation because it allows me time to play with all of my toys. But, as with all addictions, it really becomes overwhelmingly intrusive and compelling. I resent all interuptions to my PLAYTIME!

But enough talk- let me show you what I have been working on:

And now I am waiting for delivery of another multi-layered die set.

When my card class resumes I plan to have them make cards using these products and will take the pre-made flowers for them to use if they don't want to make their own.

The problem comes with mailing complex cards like these when you want to send them to someone!
